Letter to a mentor

 Dear Everyone,

To be honest I don’t know who I’m writing this letter to. I don’t have anyone in particular that I would like to talk to yet. Or maybe this letter is to everyone. When I am out in public sometimes I  evaluate how one person acts. Some people are kind, while others aren’t. So that brings me to questions that are always on my mind. How can one individual be so mean?  My parents and I talk about this a lot. When someone is rude to me I would of course defend myself but sometimes I don’t always  have a better “comeback” or can be as mean as they were because I’m genuinely a nice person and it takes a lot for me to be mean to you. So when I go home and tell my parents they always say that sometimes people act like that because they aren’t happy with themselves or at home or that that’s just the type of person they are. However I would like to help those people. Being nice doesn’t take a lot. This morning as I was leaving the cafeteria this kid was coming in but he dropped his instrument I knew I was going to be late but I stood there and held the door for him (even though I had a lot of stuff in my hand as well) and waited until he picked all his stuff up and went in. Little kind gestures do not take much, it just takes the person to want to do something nice no matter if it is big or small. So to anyone who reads this, do something nice today  it can go a long way! 😊

On self reliance pt 5

What I think is an important topic in Emerson’s “On Self-Reliance” is that he brings up the youth a couple of times. Emerson mentions that the youth is assumed about by adults. What adults are assuming is that young minds of children aren’t knowledgeable or don’t have enough information to know something  about anything. To support my opinion Emerson asks, “why are
