Chapter 9 notes

Now that Gatsby is dead he’s sort of forgotten. Daisy doesn’t really care or is hurting because of Gatsby’s death. Tom protects him and daisy by blaming Gatsby and saying he was the one who was driving the car when Mrs. Wilson died. Nick tried to get people to go to Gatsby’s funeral but they didn’t want to.

What’s so great about Gatsby

1. Yes Gatsby was great before he died because he was a good friend and tried hard to prove himself to Daisy. 2. No Nick is not honest with himself. The reason he hangs out with dishonest people is because he can make himself look good I guess. Nick respects these people and has relationships with them because he just wants to fit in with them. 3. What this means to me is that together Tom and Daisy were very careless. They didn’t care whether or not their actions affected anyone around them or close to them. I do agree with this because Tom and Daisy both set up Gatsby who was killed for a crime he didn’t commit. 4. No I didn’t understand Daisy’s behavior because even after what Tom did she was still blind to his actions and continued to stay with him.  Personally I wouldn’t let my brother date a girl like Daisy because she seems too complicated and dumb. She also seems the type to cause problems. 5. Nick wants to relive Gatsby’s childhood dreams and will do so on his boat.

Guiding questions chapter 7

1. Gatsby stops having parties because he wants to be alone with daisy. 2. Gatsby fired all of his staff because he was scared they would tell people about him and daisy. They’re different because they are people who did illegal things. 3. Gatsby kept looking at Daisy’s daughter in shock. 4. Daisy and Tom were actually getting along and things were good. Tom ended up winning Daisy. What the fight was about Tom having an affair. 5. They crashed on the way back to Long Island. 6. Daisy gets in the car with Gatsby while Tom is in another car with Jordan and Nick. What this tells me about Daisy’s character is that she seems to not know what she wants or what is right for her. Sort of foolish because she seems to be going back  and forth.

Chapter 3 notes

Contemptuous - hate Gatsby is known for throwing big parties. Everyone is nearly drunk and Mrs. Wilson keeps repeating Daisy’s name after Tom told her not to. Tom gets angry with Mrs. Wilson and ends up breaking her nose. Kyke - bad word

I’m ignited

Recently on Jan 8 Donald trump stated that he spent 2.5 TRILLION to rebuild the military. So My big question is, if he has trillions of money to spend on equipment and other things to help our military, why don’t we have enough money to help out the homelessness? - asked by myself  How would the world be without phones? - asked by Marisol What’s really on Area 51? - asked by Eneas

Last century’s writing styles

Naturalism - weather doesn’t care and there’s nothing we can do Realism - literature that was written in the style non-fiction Modernism - modern character or quality of thought, expression, or technique Liminal - the old ways are no longer working but the new ways haven’t been invented yet

HOPEPUNK

Hopepunk is the type of genre that makes you feel happy and energetic. It’s very different than regular genres because this genre has themes of violence, amorality, and despair. Personally, I would not listen to hopepunk music because it’s not really my taste. However, this genre is good to use in video games such as Call of duty because that game has a lot of violence.

On self reliance pt 5

What I think is an important topic in Emerson’s “On Self-Reliance” is that he brings up the youth a couple of times. Emerson mentions that the youth is assumed about by adults. What adults are assuming is that young minds of children aren’t knowledgeable or don’t have enough information to know something  about anything. To support my opinion Emerson asks, “why are

The world is my library

When looking for short stories I typed into the search bar, “short stories for teens” and a few of them came up.  A few short stories I found interesting are: - The Three Questions by Leo Tolstoy - The tell-tale heart by Edgar Allen Poe - The black cat by Edgar Allen Poe These 3 short stories interested me because what these short stories about are so interesting. For instance, I really want to read the tell tale heart by Edgar Allen Poe because that short story is about the narrator trying to convince the reader that they are sane, but is also describing a murder the narrator committed.
