Chapter 9 notes

Now that Gatsby is dead he’s sort of forgotten. Daisy doesn’t really care or is hurting because of Gatsby’s death. Tom protects him and daisy by blaming Gatsby and saying he was the one who was driving the car when Mrs. Wilson died. Nick tried to get people to go to Gatsby’s funeral but they didn’t want to.

What’s so great about Gatsby

1. Yes Gatsby was great before he died because he was a good friend and tried hard to prove himself to Daisy. 2. No Nick is not honest with himself. The reason he hangs out with dishonest people is because he can make himself look good I guess. Nick respects these people and has relationships with them because he just wants to fit in with them. 3. What this means to me is that together Tom and Daisy were very careless. They didn’t care whether or not their actions affected anyone around them or close to them. I do agree with this because Tom and Daisy both set up Gatsby who was killed for a crime he didn’t commit. 4. No I didn’t understand Daisy’s behavior because even after what Tom did she was still blind to his actions and continued to stay with him.  Personally I wouldn’t let my brother date a girl like Daisy because she seems too complicated and dumb. She also seems the type to cause problems. 5. Nick wants to relive Gatsby’s childhood dreams and will do so on his boat...

Guiding questions chapter 7

1. Gatsby stops having parties because he wants to be alone with daisy. 2. Gatsby fired all of his staff because he was scared they would tell people about him and daisy. They’re different because they are people who did illegal things. 3. Gatsby kept looking at Daisy’s daughter in shock. 4. Daisy and Tom were actually getting along and things were good. Tom ended up winning Daisy. What the fight was about Tom having an affair. 5. They crashed on the way back to Long Island. 6. Daisy gets in the car with Gatsby while Tom is in another car with Jordan and Nick. What this tells me about Daisy’s character is that she seems to not know what she wants or what is right for her. Sort of foolish because she seems to be going back  and forth.
